| Michael trained at the Guildford School of Acting and made his professional theatre début in the duel roles of Judas and John the Baptist in a production of "Godspell" at the Theatre y Werin, Aberystwyth.
After a season of rep at Basingstoke, Michael played Frederic in "The Pirates of Penzance" at Manchester Opera House. He was seen by the impressario Cameron Mackintosh who immediately offered him the role of Marius in The Royal Shakespeare Company's production of "Les Misérables" at the Palace Theatre in London, and he subsequently recorded the London cast album of the show. |
